Australian artist Odessa Mahony-de Vries is known for her large scale abstract oil paintings and ceramic sculptures. The works are bold, colourful, and expressive, drawing attention to her bodily gestures. With a process-based approach she layers the work continuously until discovering the unexpected, muddiness and light. She completed a Bachelor of Arts (fine art) Degree at RMIT in 2018, and has been working in a studio space in Nambour for the past two years. Recent exhibition highlights include solo shows at Gympie Regional Gallery, CA Gallery, and the Umbrella Studio Contemporary gallery. As well as selected group shows such as 'Paint' at Noosa Regional Gallery, 'Betwixt' at QCA Webb Gallery and 'ACB Selects' at Micheal Reid Gallery. She was a recent finalist in the Redlands Art Award and the Stanthorpe Art Prize.
